Culture Works has launched a new Opportunities in the Arts page to help arts and cultural organizations connect with individuals looking for new career and volunteer opportunities. The page features job and board openings, project-specific calls for volunteers, and audition announcements from nonprofit cultural organizations in the eight-county Dayton Region.
This new resource is an outcome of Culture Connects 20/20, the Dayton Region Cultural Plan facilitated by Culture Works. Over the course of three years, hundreds of arts and business leaders met to identify needs within the arts community and develop strategies to address them. Coordinating centralized access to information about the region’s cultural sector was identified as being essential to helping arts organizations both grow their audiences and develop professionally.
“Many smaller organizations pointed to the prohibitive costs of job posting sites, as well as the lack of a centralized space for calls for auditions,” said Martine Meredith Collier, Culture Works President & CEO. “We hope the new Opportunities in the Arts page will provide valuable exposure to the organizations and serve as a one-stop-shop for individuals interested in getting more involved in the arts and culture of our community.”
As the Cultural Plan implementation moves forward, more resources for arts organizations will soon become available. Culture Works is in the process of gathering information about the Dayton Region’s arts industry for Americans for the Arts’ Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 study. When the results of the study are published next year, arts organizations will receive detailed data on the regional and local economic impact of the arts that they can use to strengthen funding proposals and calls for government support. Culture Works is also developing a new online arts education resource for teachers, the details of which will be released in the coming months.
Arts organizations who would like to be featured on the Opportunities in the Arts page should contact Culture Works Communications & Project Manager, Karen Maner, at kmaner@cultureworks.org.
